Bar / Bat Mitzvah Project

One of the most significant experiences in the life of every Jewish boy and girl is the bar / bat mitzvah ceremony.

Every year we at Hamifal (Educational Children’s Home) hold the bar / bat mitzvah project in which boys and girls in this age group take part in an experiential and important process that connects them with their Jewish-Israeli identity.

The boys and girls enjoy this year by participating in coming-of-age activities and workshops, learning about their Jewish heritage and formulating their Zionist identity.

Through these experiences, we believe that they solidify their character and identity as adults.

At the end of the process, the educational staff and therapists of the village organise a celebration for the children which is attended by their biological families, the village staff, and their friends.

This celebration gives the children a feeling that they are worthy and, like all children, get to commemorate their coming-of-age with family, in an exciting ceremony.

This is, of course, the only event that the children celebrate in honour of this special day. Thus, we invest in ensuring an atmosphere and sense of great festivity during the event.

This project is not inexpensive, and every year our institutions encounter various challenges to raise the necessary funds for the project.

If you would like to help us continue running this special project for our children, we invite you to donate to our cause.
