Gili and David’s Story
Gili (9 years old) and David (15 years old) are siblings from two different fathers. In 2010, their mother arrived in Israel with David, while Gili was later born in Israel. At the age of 3, Gili was tragically orphaned by her father. Since the mother struggled to raise Gili, two years later it was decided that the children would be transferred to one of the Hamifal institutions, but regrettably for Gili and David, their mother passed away about a week before being taken in by the organization.
Gili was taken in by the village at the age of 5 and a half, David was taken in at the age of 11. The grandmother, despite her poor health, took part in raising the siblings, but her health condition made it difficult for her to raise them. About a year ago, Gili and David experienced another loss when their grandmother passed away and the two were left without any assets and without a home to return to.
The organization takes care of many siblings who, due to complicated home lives, join the institutions of Hamifal and grow up together in a host family home, where we acknowledge and understand the importance of maintaining the family unit of the siblings.
